Gardening Updates ...  On May 27th, in a narrow 7' x 17' spot on the sunny, south side of our garage, I planted 30 potato sprouts from saved potatoes we harvested last September.  I also planted 40 sweet corn seeds (of which only 15 plants sprouted days later).  Two weeks later, I planted an additional 100 sweet corn seeds (after soaking them for 8 hours in water, per internet research, for better sprouting success). Nearly all 100 seeds sprouted much to my surprise and unplanned thinning dilemma.  May 27, 2022 ~ Planting potatoes and sweet corn. As of July 31st, the sweet corn crop has surpassed the "knee high by the Fourth of July" marker.  The first 15 seeds/plants in the back have already tasseled and corn ears with silk have begun forming.  The second planting two weeks later are just starting to tassel.   The potatoes in front are doing very well too as are the 30 additional potato plants in Chris's garden in the back yard.  I accident...

Happy Fall Y'all

October is typically one of our Ram Fam's busiest months of the year and this year was no exception.  While Chris and I were busy tending to the final garden crops of the season, we also celebrated three October (and three September) birthdays, our wedding anniversary, and treated a HUGE Halloween crowd of trick-or-treaters at month's end.  In addition, this month, there was a lovely party to shower gifts upon the new Ram Fam parents-to-be! Final crops from the garden A second planting of green beans for fall harvest was picked and we also dug-up the potatoes.  It was a second year for growing white potatoes (from saved sprouted potatoes of the 2021 harvest) and our first year to grow red potatoes from purchased sprouts.  The white's didn't do as well as the reds after planting approximate 10x more whites than reds.  We were hoping for an overall harvest of around 100 pounds of potatoes (according to planting estimates), but harvested about 30 pounds instead....

August Bounties and Birthdays

Welcome to the granddaughter club, sweet pea!  Danika (15 - next month) and Haylee (20). You are dearly loved already!  We can't wait to meet you with lots of smoochies and snuggles! Fur-sister, Lucy, is so excited too! "...we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders He has done."  ~ Psalm 78:4  ...not only for the miracle of this precious new baby, but also for the healing miracles received by both boy Taylor and girl Taylor themselves from separate life-threatening medical situations in years past and recent years.  What a continuous blessing of miracles from our Lord!  We praise You and thank you, God!     August Bountie...
