My Almost Hole-In-One

It's as close to a hole-in-one I've ever achieved ... or may ever again for that matter.  So this gal, who's only golfed a handful of times in the last 15 years, was giddy and dumbfounded by this picture worthy moment last Wednesday morning.

That's my drive in one after sailing between sand traps and a pond!  And there's Chris' nice chipped shot in two.

Wondering, geesh, how long was that drive?  Locals will recognize it as hole #2 at the Elks ~ starting back there by those three tiny spruce trees in the background.  A par 3 ~ 109 yards for the ladies.  So no, I must confess, it wasn't a 350 yard drive.

But, I have always been blessed in golf with straight and long drives.  A skill I can only humbly thank as a gift because it surely hasn't been studied or practiced due to the demands of motherhood the last thirty years.

On the rare occasions that I have, I love to play golf.  And so does Chris.  I remember the joy over twenty years ago when Chris bought me my own set of ladies golf clubs and bag for Christmas ... meaning I no longer had to borrow his set.  A nice set of golf clubs was pretty much required attire for my years of employment in corporate management.

Back then, when "work" took me to the golf course, I remember savoring quiet moments of achievement when, during business golf scramble outings, my consistent drives were often analyzed and occasionally used over the men's drives on my team.

However, with that being said, I was NOT gifted with chipping or putting skills. Shortly after my picture above was taken, I choked and three putted.

Those ungifted skills ... well ... I'm looking forward to studying and practicing them more this summer among the graceful beauty of God's landscaping.

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.   ~ 1 Corinthians 12:4-6

What gifts and talents has God blessed you with that are quietly laying dormant?  Is God nudging you to expand your joy?
