Knock Out Roses called "Bubblegum" Karl Rosenfield peony The light pink peonies are very special and smell wonderful ... much like heaven smells, I imagine.  These frilly beauties are grown from a plant that first belonged to Chris's Grandma Wright.  Chris remembers, as a little boy during the 1960's, his grandma's beautiful, huge flower gardens which she was known for in her small town in central Indiana.  I, too, had the privilege of knowing Grandma Wright and visiting her beautiful gardens when Chris and I began dating in 1979.   A Godly woman and the mother of nine (four of whom became pastors), she affectionately hugged me during our first introduction, like only grandma's do.  She was the only person who has ever called me Sherrie.  From her loving example, I love to give away "Grandma Hugs" during every new introduction in our family. Happy Fall Y'all

Image
October is typically one of our Ram Fam's busiest months of the year and this year was no exception.  While Chris and I were busy tending to the final garden crops of the season, we also celebrated three October (and three September) birthdays, our wedding anniversary, and treated a HUGE Halloween crowd of trick-or-treaters at month's end.  In addition, this month, there was a lovely party to shower gifts upon the new Ram Fam parents-to-be! A Memorial Tribute to Granny

"Dear God," "When You are ready for my Granny, could You please take her to heaven while she sleeps comfortably at home?"    I prayed this granddaughter request often. God answered my prayer on October 30th...just the way I requested. Her small, simple, pre-arranged funeral last week in Southern Indiana mirrored how she lived and died...without fanfare. The picture below was taken in front of her "pretty little house" as she called it on September 21st, 2013 during our last visit with her.  She was 97 years old. Granny was looking forward to the family reunion awaiting her in heaven.  She had out-lived her only child ~ my dad, plus two husbands, five brothers and sisters, her parents and many friends. I won't forget a conversation we shared recently about death.  She said, "Sissy, when the time comes for me to go, just think of this story I once heard at a funeral.  Imagine...
